Giving Thanks For All Our Blessings This Thanksgiving!

I hope that all my blog readers in the United States have a very happy Thanksgiving! May your Thanksgiving be filled with great food, wonderful friendship and all the family ties that you may wish for. :) I have to say that Mom and I will not be having the usual Thanksgiving turkey today - it will be smoked ham for us all the way. After that, we will kick up our feet and read books for the entire day! :)

May all of you have a wonderfully safe and blessed Thanksgiving. Be sure to find some quiet time for yourselves and count your blessings today when and if you can. I know that I'm incredibly thankful for my continued health and happiness, my mom's continued health and happiness, that we are both comfortable and love each other as much as we do, and that our family is as well as they are. We are also incredibly thankful for our three kitties - Ruby, Leila and Lollipop.

I also hope that everyone who is away from their families at this time, will know that they are sorely missed, truly loved and deeply appreciated by all! God bless all of you, may you have a very happy and wonderful Thanksgiving! :)

Our Library Visit For November

Hello Everyone! How are you on this fine Thursday? I'm doing just fine. :) Well, today being Thursday, this is the day that mom usually runs her errands. She still ran her errands, but before she did, she and I went to our local library and raided the library book sale! :)

It was absolutely wonderful! We spent about an hour and a half - from 11:45 A. M. to 12:30 P. M. - at the library, and had agreed before hand that this was to be our Christmas visit. The books that we bought at the library book sale would be kept as Christmas gifts for us both - we'll see how long that promise lasts! LOL!! :)

Between us, we bought 36 hardcovers, 61 paperbacks as well as 4 jigsaw puzzles (another one of mom's weaknesses! :)) We spent a whopping $65 for a total of 97 books. A pretty good haul, if I do say so, myself. :)

I just finished reading Moon River by J. R. Rain earlier today, so I have no idea what I'm going to read next! :)

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I was completely drawn into the story from the first page, and appreciated that while it possessed many romantic elements, the story wasn't overwhelmed by them. I give Knight of Flame an A+! and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I give this book an A! and certainly look forward to reading more by Ms. Di Mambro in the future.

Why do I have it? I had heard of the Susan Powell case back in December of 2009 and followed the news coverage avidly until its tragic conclusion.

On December 7, 2009, a nightmare that eventually spanned two years began with a single phone call: "Susan never dropped off the boys." Susan Cox Powell was reported missing from her West Valley City, Utah home in December, 2009. As law enforcement diligently tried to piece together what had happened to Susan, suspicion fell on her husband Josh Powell, and he soon became the only person of interest in the case.

For Jennifer Graves, Josh's sister, the nightmare began long before Susan's disappearance. From her experiences growing up in the Powell family to the terrifying moment when she first started to believe that her brother was capable of murder, she relied on her faith to stay strong. She devoted herself to ensuring the safety of Susan's sons, Charlie and Braden, whom she hoped to be able to raise as her own.

When the boys were murdered by their father in February, 2012, Jennifer was beyond devastated. However, somehow she had to believe there was a purpose for it all - including the deaths of her precious nephews. In A Light in Dark Places, Jennifer shares her struggles and triumphs. In coming to terms with such tragedy, she was finally able to embrace the truth that we all have the ability to choose our own path through life - and there is always hope, no matter how dark things may seem.

This was such a poignant story for me to read - in my opinion, A Light in Dark Places is truly a wonderfully inspiring tribute to the memories of Susan, Charlie, and Braden. I give this book an A+!

Meet April Bostic

April Bostic is a New Jersey-based, Adult Romance author who enjoys unleashing her creativity and letting her imagination run wild. Why do I have it? I like contemporary mysteries and Layton Green is a new author for me.

William Addison - retired United States diplomat - disappears in front of hundreds of onlookers while attending a religious ceremony in the bush veld of Zimbabwe. Assigned to investigate the Addison case is Dominic Grey - Diplomatic Security special agent - a product of a violent childhood and a well-worn passport. He is not typically a 'by the book, follow the rules' special agent - but because he is so well-traveled, and knowledgeable in the martial arts - Dominic has managed to keep his position with the American Embassy.

Aiding in the investigation is Professor Viktor Radek, religious phenomenology scholar and expert on cults, and Nya Mashumba, the local government liaison. What Dominic uncovers during his investigation is a terrifying cult older than Western civilization, the harsh underbelly of a country in despair, a demagogic priest seemingly able to perform impossibilities, and the identity of the newest sacrifice.

The Summoner: A Novel of Suspense, is the first book in a series which spans the globe; whose protagonists investigate the world's most bizarre and dangerous cults. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was well-written and fast-paced, and captured my attention right from the beginning. I must say that there were several unexpected plot twists - at least for me - and the various cliff-hangers throughout the story had me literally on the edge of my seat.

I give this book a definite A+! and look forward to reading more from Layton Green in the future. This story is certainly not for the faint-of-heart, and is totally thrilling and suspenseful.
