Blog Tour For Stonehill Downs by Sarah Remy From April 6, 2015 to April 30, 2015 - Come Join Us!

Hello Everyone! I am extremely happy to announce that Sarah Remy will be touring the blogosphere to promote her fantasy novel Stonehill Downs. This virtual book tour is being hosted by Pump up Your Book and will last from April 6, to April 30, 2015!

Stonehill Downs Blog Tour Information:

Meet Sarah Remy

In 1994 Sarah Remy earned a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from Pomona College in California. Since then she’s been employed as a receptionist at a high-powered brokerage firm, managed a boutique bookstore, read television scripts for a small production company, and, more recently, worked playground duty at the local elementary school.

When she’s not taking the service industry by storm, she’s writing fantasy and science fiction. Sarah likes her fantasy worlds gritty, her characters diverse and fallible, and she doesn’t believe every protagonist deserves a happy ending.

Before joining the Harper Voyager family, she published with EDGE, Reuts, and Madison Place Press.

Sarah lives in Washington State with plenty of animals and people, both. In her limited spare time she rides horses, rehabs her old home, and supervises a chaotic household. She can talk to you endlessly about Sherlock Holmes, World of Warcraft, and backyard chicken husbandry, and she’s been a member of one of Robin Hobb’s longest-running online fan clubs since 2002.

Her latest is the fantasy novel, Stonehill Downs.

 About Stonehill Downs:

Stonehill Downs follows Mal, a powerful mage who functions as Lord Vocent, the king’s personal forensic scientist and detective. Magic and murder are his calling. Never have the two entangled in quite as terrifying a manner as on Stonehill Downs, where Avani, a Goddess-gifted outsider, has discovered a host of gruesome corpses reeking of supernatural malfeasance. The investigation is haunted by ghosts of Mal’s past, and the two quickly learn that they must cast aside their secrets if they are to succeed in unearthing the pervading evil - before it’s unleashed from the boundaries of the Downs, straight into the heart of the kingdom.

I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing Too Close to the Edge by Kathryn Meyer Griffith back in January of 2013, and here is my review.

Yes, from Thursday, February 12, 2015 until Monday, February 16, 2015, Too Close to the Edge by Kathryn Meyer Griffith will be available to download for free from Amazon. So, I would advise you to go grab yourselves a copy today! ;)

Meet Kathryn Meyer Griffith

Since childhood I’ve been an artist and worked as a graphic designer in the corporate world and for newspapers for twenty-three years before I quit to write full time. But I’d already begun writing novels at 21, over forty-two years ago now, and have had twenty (ten romantic horror, two horror novels, two romantic SF horror, one romantic suspense, one romantic time travel, one historical romance and three murder mysteries) previous novels, two novellas and twelve short stories published from Zebra Books, Leisure Books, Avalon Books, The Wild Rose Press, Damnation Books/Eternal Press; and I’ve self-published my last five novels with Amazon Kindle Direct and my dinosaur novels are my best-sellers.

I’ve been married to Russell for thirty-six years; have a son, James, and two grandchildren, Joshua and Caitlyn, and I live in a small quaint town in Illinois, which is right across the JB Bridge from St. Louis, Mo. We have three quirky cats, ghost cat Sasha and Cleo, and live cat Sasha (Too), and the five of us live happily in an old house in the heart of town. Though I’ve been an artist, and a folk singer in my youth with my brother Jim, writing has always been my greatest passion, my butterfly stage, and I’ll probably write stories until the day I die…or until my memory goes.

Too Close to the Edge Blurb:

Artist Penelope had been looking forward to going with her husband, sister and brother-in-law to see the Grand Canyon…even though she was terrified of heights and, when she got there, couldn’t bear to get too close to the edge. She watched people balancing on one foot, acting foolish, taking photos, oblivious of the death waiting below them at their feet. Their careless antics made her dizzy, took her breath away. Scared her.

Especially when the woman beside her relates the story of a small child that fell into the Canyon to her death the day before. Many people died that way. Over the edge. Many also died down inside the Canyon. Hikers. Lost people. People on the river going through the rapids.

Then she sees a young girl go over the edge and no one will believe her. For there was no child that had died - that day anyway. Was she seeing things that weren’t there…or was there another explanation?

Calling All Book Reviewers!

I'm delighted to announce that Treasure Me - Book 1 in Christine Nolfi's contemporary romance series The Liberty Series - is now permanently free on Amazon, Kobo and I-Tunes! I had the pleasure of reading Treasure Me back in June of 2013 and was delighted to receive Second Chance Grill and Four Wishes - Books 2 and 4 of The Liberty Series - from the author as well. Treasure Me Blurb:

Welcome to Book One of The Liberty Series, where love, friendship and family life arrive with a second chance in the most heartwarming circumstances.

Petty thief Birdie Kaminsky has arrived in Liberty, Ohio to steal a treasure hidden since the Civil War. She’s in possession of a charming clue passed down in her family for generations: Liberty safeguards the cherished heart.

The beautiful thief wants to go straight. She secretly admires the clue’s author, freedwoman Justice Postell, who rose above the horrors of slavery to build a new life in Ohio. According to family lore, Justice left South Carolina at the dawn of the Civil War. Heavy with child, she carried untold riches on her journey north. As Birdie searches for the treasure, she begins to believe a questionable part of the story: a tale of love between Justice and Lucas Postell, the French plantation owner who was Birdie’s ancestor.

If the stories are true, Justice bore a child with Lucas. Some of those black relatives might still live in town. Birdie can’t help but wonder if she’s found one - Liberty’s feisty matriarch, Theodora Hendricks, who packs a pistol and heartwarming stories about Justice. Birdie doesn’t know that an investigative reporter who has arrived in town will trip her up - as will her conscience when she begins to wonder if it’s possible to start a new life with stolen riches. Yet with each new clue she unearths, Birdie begins to discover a family history more precious than gems, a tradition of love richer than she could imagine.

The books of The Liberty Series work as stand-alone novels you may enjoy in any order. Look for the other books in the series: Second Chance Grill, The Impossible Wish and Four Wishes.

Amy Hearst - The Gladiator's Girl

1. The Gladiator's Girl by Amy Hearst (2013)
The Gladiators' Gifts Series Book 1
Length: 51 pages
Genre: Short Story
Started/Finished: 7 January 2015
Where did it come from? From Amazon
How long has it been on my TBR pile? Since 15 November 2013
Why do I have it? This ebook was a free download from Amazon in November of 2013, although I certainly want to read more short stories. I also like historical romance and Amy Hearst is a new author for me.

Rue is an orphaned slave girl in ancient Rome whose master runs a gladiators' school known as a ludus. She is primarily a servant to the master and his family; although she is often given to gladiators for their enjoyment after they win a match in the public arena. Being kept as a reward; expected to provide pleasure to some of Rome's fiercest warriors, Rue's experiences with these men are painful. Most gladiators take the greatest pleasure in brutalizing and humiliating her; and for Rue, they are nothing more than violent brutes.

When a new gladiator named Ducius arrives at the ludus, Rue doesn't know what to expect. He seems nice enough, but she's certain that it'll be only a matter of time before his true personality is revealed. Yet, Ducius eventually surprises her. He's a gladiator with a gentle spirit, who manages to entice Rue out of her shell and helps her to believe in love again.

But their happiness is constantly threatened. Ducius could be killed while fighting in the arena any day, and Rue just can't seem to satisfy her cruel mistress, Cornelia - who repeatedly accuses her of somehow angering the gladiators. In a time when violence and cruelty was encouraged, and life existed at the whim of the powerful; can Ducius and Rue find a way to be permanently happy together?

Despite this story being only the length of a novella, I still enjoyed it very much. I usually enjoy reading anything having to do with ancient Rome and Greece, and this was no exception. The story was coherent and fast-paced; well-written and dramatic. I found myself really rooting for Rue and Ducius, and wondering what would happen next for them. I give The Gladiator's Girl by Amy Hearst an A!

A! - (90-95%)

Running With the Train Blurb:

Sarah has been lonely most of her life. She’s been searching for a love that she’s begun to believe will never come. Her family and friends at home depend on her, need her…but they can’t give her what she really wants. True, eternal love. Like the wolves have.

So as a solitary traveler, desperate to try something new and get away, she goes on an adventure of a lifetime to the Grand Canyon; rides the train from Williams to the South Rim and sees these huge wolves running alongside. Sees them in the evening twilight scurrying unbelievably below on the Canyon’s ledges among the trees. She’s told there are no wolves any longer in the region but she hears their haunting cries. No one else sees them and no one else hears them. Just her.

Have her senses left her; her loneliness made her crazy?

For there are wolves…unearthly prowling creatures that follow and achingly call to her…and in the end she must decide what she will do when she finally comes face to face with one.

Introducing The Ice Bridge and Blood Forge by Kathryn Meyer Griffith!

Hello Everyone! I was delighted to learn recently that The Ice Bridge and Blood Forge by Kathryn Meyer Griffith will soon be released as audiobooks - sometime in the next two months. I've had the pleasure of reading approximately eighteen of Ms. Griffith's twenty-two currently published books. Of those twenty-two books, twenty of them have been released as audiobooks distributed by Audible.

The two newest releases are, of course, The Ice Bridge and Blood Forge by Kathryn Meyer Griffith. The Ice Bridge is narrated by Ashley Arnold and Blood Forge is narrated by Marilyn Ghigliotti. I haven't had the pleasure of reading either book as yet - although I hope to at some point in the very near future.
